Dutch Baroque Walnut and Fruitwood Veneer Corner Cupboard, 18th century and later, two-case construction, the upper case with shelves flanked by pilasters set with bronze Corinthian capitals, over two drawers with oak linings, above lower section with further shelving, skirt drop with figural bronze mounts, and squat shaped legs on bun feet, ht. 90 1/4, wd. 35 1/2, dp. 22 in.
Provenance: Said to have originally belonged to the Wade Hampton family of South Carolina. Wade Hampton III (March 28, 1818 - April 11, 1902) was a Confederate cavalry leader during the American Civil War and afterward a politician from South Carolina, serving as its 77th Governor and as a U.S. Senator.
