Framed Watercolor Painting by Dennis Cusick (1800-1824), son of Chief Nicholas Cusick of the Tuscarora Iroquois, painted in 1821 and depicting Mrs. James Young, a missionary, teaching Iroquois girls in the Seneca School at Buffalo Creek, New York; written at the bottom "Female Class" and "Dennis Cusick, son of the Chief, Fecit"; written on the back "Time of King George V, Linderly's daughter of former Willesborough missionary to the Indians, son of chief painted picture of her teaching," (not examined out of frame),7 1/2 x 5 1/2 in.

Provenance: Descended in Mrs. Young's family.
