Provenance: Purchased from the artist in Pasadena, California; present owner by family descent.
N.B. In the mid-1920s, Puthuff left behind a successful commercial art career to focus primarily on painting the vibrant Southern California landscape. The present work is a classic example of Puthuff's "en plein air" Impressionist approach and subject, depicting sycamores in the foothills.
