Pair of Framed Watercolor Portraits of Mr. and Mrs. Aaron Wedgwood, England, c. 1816, one inscribed on the reverse, "Portrait of Aaron Wedgwood Born the 1st of June 1795. This portrait painted in 1816 being about 21 years of age by Mr. Johnstone artist. The above A. Wedgwood is son to Josephiah Wedgwood potter of Burslem who departed this life 1798," the other "This is a Portrait of Phirra Reeves Born the 29th of October 1797. Painted in the year 1816 by Mr. Johnstone. Married Aaron Wedgwood on the 27th of December 1817 at Burslem Staffordshire by the Revd Mr. Dunderoo Minister of that Place"; each set in similar gilded, carved, and gessoed wood frames; sight size 4 5/8 x 6, 4 3/8 x 5 3/8 in.
