American School, 19th Century

Townsend, West Village (Massachusetts). Signed and dated below in pencil "Sarah Jane Sampson Duxbury, Nov. 10th 1844." Graphite on thin card, 9 1/2 x 12 1/4 in., in a period mahogany veneer frame. Condition: Toning.

Provenance: Edgar William and Bernice Chrysler Garbisch collection, sold at Sotheby's April 29, 1977, lot 353.
