Signed "Edmund Greacen" l.r., titled and inscribed "University of Arkansas"
in pencil and with a stamp from N. Rabinowitz Artists' Materials, New York, on the reverse.
Oil on canvasboard, 12 x 15 1/2 in. (30.4 x 40.0 cm), framed.
Condition: Retouch, surface grime, slight bowing to support.

N.B. A copy of a letter from artist's daughter, Nan Greacen Faure, dated February 9, 1979, accompanies the lot. Mrs. Faure wrote, "I can definitely authenticate the painting you have; it was painted by my father, Edmund Greacen, at Oak Ridge, N.J., where we had a summer home between 1915 and 1925...I recognize the frame as the style he was using at that time."

Retouch u.l. corner, natural pigment fluorescence, wear to edges of canvas board.

Stamp reads "N. RABINOWITZ /Artists' Materials/Picture Frames/8 WEST 29TH ST. N.Y." within an oval.
