Condition: Scattered retouch, slight bowing to the support, wear to edges.
Provenance: Estate of N. David Scotti, Providence, Rhode Island.
N.B. The sitter has been identified in a copy of a letter dated August 3, 1905, from Seth Mendell to William C. Davenport, President of The Machinists' Bank, Taunton, Massachusetts, in an envelope affixed to the reverse of the painting.

The retouch is minor and confined mainly to the perimeter, with a few very small dots of retouch to the figure's face.
