Condition: Tear within an area of paint loss and abrasion u.l. corner, scattered minor paint losses, mild canvas deformation in the corners.

N.B. Genealogical records list a Charles A. Desh who died October 9, 1918, in Pennsylvania. (www.distantcousin.com/Obits/.) The original portrait by Anthony Van Dyke is in The Royal Collection in England.
