Platinum and Diamond Solitaire, set with a marquise-cut diamond weighing 11.62 cts., flanked by baguette-cut diamonds, 3.1 dwt, size 7 1/4.

Provenance: A gift from King Carol II of Romania (1893-1953) to plastic surgeon Dr. Irving Daniel Shorell for the surgery performed on the King's wife, the famed beauty Magda Lupescu (1895-1977).

Dr. Shorell was a world-famous plastic surgeon who performed surgery on the rich and famous from the 1930s through the 1960s, including Wallis Simpson, Duchess of Windsor, and is mentioned in Ralph G. Martin's biography, THE WOMAN HE LOVED: THE STORY OF THE DUKE AND DUCHESS OF WINDSOR (1974).

The ring descended through Dr. Shorell's family to its present owner.
