Description:

Glass Snuff Bottle, China, 19th century, the rectangular body painted on the interior with a scene of a man passing a basin of water to a woman who is preparing Chinese cabbages to one side, the other side painted with a man saying farewell to a woman under a willow tree, signed "Yi shu, bingchen, fa he, Ye Zhongsan zuo," 'realgar' glass stopper, lg. 2 1/2 in.

Provenance: Sold by the Peabody Essex museum, Salem, MA, for the benefit of acquisition funds.
