Jade Snuff Bottle, China, 19th century, incised with fine lines depicting a monk resting under a leafless tree to one side, and scholars conversing under an overarching pine tree, with boats on a river and mountains in a distance to the other, the jade of spinach green color, coral stopper, lg. 2 1/2 in.

Provenance: Sold by the Peabody Essex museum, Salem, MA, for the benefit of acquisition funds.

Cracks and loss to the coral stopper, nicks to the surface of the bottle
