Description:

Agate Snuff Bottle, China, 19th century, squarish flattened flask form, carved in relief incorporating the opaque skin of the stone as a galloping horseman holding a banner bearing the character "ling" (order), natural marking simulating jellyfish to the reserve, dark honey color, jade stopper, lg. 2 5/8 in.

Provenance: Sold by the Peabody Essex museum, Salem, MA, for the benefit of acquisition funds.
Estimate $300-500

Cracks to the neck of the stopper,good condition, well hollowed
