Glazed Stoneware "Pouch" Ewer, China, Liao dynasty (907-1125),with deep U-shaped sides and a short cylindrical mouth attached to an arched handle, imitating the leather prototype of the pilgrim's flask, each side crisply carved with Immortals riding on a phoenix amidst flower scrolls and clouds, covered with an amber colored glaze, the lower body unglazed, ht. 8 3/4 in.
