Mahogany Quarter-Chiming Spanish Market Bracket Clock with Automaton by David Evans, London, c. 1790, with 8-inch brass, enameled and painted dial signed Higgs, y Diego Evans Londres, Roman numerals, proper right subsidiary dial with three selections, Cucu y Tocar, Cucu and Tocar, proper left subsidiary dial with Musica and Silencio, applied brass spandrels and painted scene in the arch depicting a red barn with thatched roof and door which swings open to reveal a cuckoo sounding the hour, eight-day time, strike and quarter chime on eight bells, verge escapement, two bellows in the base for cuckoo sound and pull quarter repeat on command, ht. 24 1/2 in.
