Arabic Christian Icon of the Elevation of the Holy Cross, possibly Melkite, central figure of Bishop Mikarius holding the cross, with Saints Constantine and Helen to one side, and monks to the other, with Arabic inscriptions, 16 1/8 x 11 3/8 in.
Two touched-up circles (possibly knots in the wood?) to center. Small spot of surface loss to l.r. and to edges. Some overpainting to borders and to the gold halos. Overall craquelure. Horizontal crack through about three-quarters of panel, running near figures' feet. Old varnished finish.
