Description:

Large Victorian Sterling Silver Acorn Brooch, George Unite, Birmingham, 1848-49, the fine foliage with elaborately engraved scroll motifs, and suspending naturalistic acorns, joined by a length of anchor link chain, lg. 5 in., hallmarks and maker's mark.

Note: This brooch is pictured in Victorian Jewelry, p. 29. Silversmith George Unite specialized in flatware and jewelry, and was known for his finely crafted, naturalistic brooches. The leaf and acorn motif was among his most popular.
Estimate $300-400

Small and minor old break at top of acorn and leaf edge where the two were formerly joined. Quite unobtrusive. Minor wear, tarnish commensurate with age.
