Pair of Mahogany Veneer Inlaid Knife Boxes, England or America, early 19th century, with serpentine front, hinged sloped lid, silvered brass mountings, the interior with slotted grill, the interior and exterior with line and edge inlay, (cracks, losses),ht. 14 3/4, wd. 8 3/4, dp. 10 in.

The lids have age cracks, one lid with some veneer lifting and with 3 1/2 x 7/8 in. loss; losses on lower center front edges, the back sides both have shrinkage cracks one has some lifting of veneer, both box sides have vertical cracks about 1/3" in along the rear back edges. The interiors are in good condition, no cracks, or losses.
