Shaker Commemorative Engraved Copper Sundial, William L. Lassiter, 1940, the plate inscribed with Roman numerals, bears the inscription "Put Your Hands to Work and Give Your hearts to God, Mother Ann Lee"; "Commemorating the Existence of the SHAKER Society founded in the wilds of Niskeyuna in Albany County, N.Y.," the axis inscribed "Sister Tabitha Babbitt (1794-1858) of the Shaker Settlement at Harvard, Massachusetts Inaugurated a New Industrial Era, by the Invention of Cut Nails and of the circular Saw/The Original Saw is in the New York State Museum at Albany/(signed) William L. Lassiter Del, 1940," ht. 7 5/8, dia. 13 7/8 in.
