Faintly signed "LOUIS KRONBERG" l.r., Star of David l.r., identified on labels
affixed to the reverse.
Oil on canvas, 20 x 24 in. (50.8 x 61.0 cm), unframed.
Condition: Patch reinforcement, craquelure with lifting, light surface abrasions, surface grime.
Craquelure particularly in the upper half and throughout the left side, with small losses. Patch reinforcement verso with about 1 inch of retouch/repair on the front by the foot of the ballerina on the far left. Stretcher bar marks. Canvas rippling, with two bulges visible on the reverse that correspond to heavily-painted tutus on the front. Canvas is loose on the stretcher, with weakened tacking edges.
The painting is titled/identified on labels on the stretch, including a partial label, handwritten, that reads ",,painting of Harriet ...from Louis Kronberg/ dear beloved cousin."
