Extensive Empire Paris Porcelain Dinner Service, made and decorated by Stone Coquerel et Le Gros, first quarter 19th century, elaborately printed and painted with scenes from Roman history, each scene identified to the underside, with gilding to borders, and with black and brown transfer printed rims in various classical designs including swans, trophies, and anthemia, comprising: husk swag and snake bordered: pair of lidded condiment dishes with attached boat shaped undertrays, and an urn shaped condiment dish; flower stem bordered: pair of large serving tureens with lion head handles (one with lid, one lacking lid) with oval undertrays, tureen lg. to handles 15 1/2, undertray lg. 16 3/4, four oval serving platters (two lg. 19, two 17),a pair of large sauce boats with undertrays, ht. 7 3/4, a pair of smaller sauce tureens, ht. 6 1/4, pair of fruit coolers (lacking lids),ht. 9 3/8, three tapered oval covered vegetable dishes, dia. 8 1/4, a pair of lidded condiment dishes with attached boat shaped undertrays with grotesque decoration to sides, lg. 11 1/4, two oval platters, lg. 15, five serving plates, dia. 11 3/8, and five shallow rimmed plates, dia. 10 5/8; thirty-five rimmed soup plates with border of eagles, medallions and swags, dia. 9; and forty-eight dining plates, dia. 9 1/4 in., (borders as follow: sixteen with griffins, ten with anthemia, eleven with oak leaves, and eleven with helmets and eagles).

Provenance: By repute, this set was once owned by Mary, British Princess Royal and Countess of Harewood. Exhibited at the Indianapolis Museum of Art.

swan border: one large sauce boat with a restored handle. one soup tureen lacking lid, handle of one fruit cooler restored. two of the vegetable dish lids with restored finials, and all with some spray restoration to gilding. one of the condiment dishes with restorations to body.
all of the 9 1/4 in. plates with some sprayed-on restoration to the gilding. minor scratching and some wear to gilding throughout set.
