Description:

Fine Continental Art Deco Burl Walnut and Ivory-inlaid Writing Table, c. 1930, the top with finely matched burlwood veneers, the center section with three ivory swirls within rectangular border, the edge of table with white metal rim, front with two frieze drawers with roundel ivory ball-form pulls, the right end with pull-out writing slide, on tapering square section legs ending in ivory tipped feet and topped by further smaller swirls, ht. 30, wd. 43, dp. 23 1/4 in.
Estimate $3,000-5,000

Overall very good to excellent condition; there are a few shrinkage cracks in the ivory swirls but no missing pieces and the ivory was laid in with strips so there are already line present. Through this area are two small sections where it appears that the veneers have been polished down to their mesh backing but it is easy to miss. The rest of the table shows age typical wear, cracks to the ivory plaques to feet and one side missing to right back foot.
