Martin Brothers Blue Glazed Stoneware Narrative Ewer, dated March, 1896 and numbered 632, pinched spout and angular handle above a body incised with a continuous scene of maritime distress related to the Norman Conquest and likely taken from the Bayeux Tapestry, inscribed "Harold's ship stranded on the Norman coast, in the territory of Guy Count of Ponthieu", incised R.W. Martin London & Southall mark, ht. 9 7/8 in.
