The Merrimac Sinking the Cumberland, March 8th, 1862
Unsigned, with a label from Kennedy Galleries, Inc., New York on the reverse.
Oil on canvas, 18 x 24 in. (45.7 x 61.0 cm), framed.
Condition: Craquelure, surface grime, retouch.

Provenance: Estate of Anna Eleanor Roosevelt (née Braman) Grasso, Essex, Connecticut.
Estimate $4,000-6,000

The retouch is thin glazes to much of the sky. The craquelure is prevalent, and is just beginning to cup gently.
