Lot of Two Images: Strange Fruit and Artist Trying to Get It All Down. Both signed "Valerie Maynard..." in pencil l.r., titled in pencil l.l., and inscribed "AP" in pencil l.l. Woodcuts on paper, image size 12 x 9 in. (30.4 x 22.8 cm),framed.

Strange with skinning along right and top margins, margins over 1 3/4 in., minor surface grime, framer's pencil notation l.r., cloth tape hinged to window mat, foxing verso, trimmed top and right edges, deckled left and bottom edges, wove paper; Artist with deckled right edge and trimmed top, bottom and left edges, paper flaw u.r., cloth tape hinged to window mat with puckering to sheet around left hinge, several pin holes l.r. Due to fragile nature of Japan paper, we are unable to photograph the reverse of Artist without risk of creasing sheet.
