Description:

Burl Walnut Longcase Clock by Korns Uyterweer, Rotterdam, c. 1770, the hood with scalloped top, arched and glazed door flanked by engaged quarter-columns, waist section with cyma top and bottom and cast brass pendulum aperture ornament, all on a base with buttress corners terminating in scrolled feet, 13 in. composite brass dial with Roman numerals, matted center, seconds bit, recessed date dial, subsidiary dials for strike-silent and tune selection, and engraved and painted moon's age dial in the arch, eight-day brass movement with "Dutch striking" on two bells with two lateral moving hammers, quarter hour descending notes on six bells, and eight bell musical selection on the hour powered by three brass-cased weights and regulated by a pendulum, ht. 95 1/2 in.

Case: Rear feet are probable old replacements, top 25 1/2 in. of backboard is a replacement, beaded molding around waist door is a probable old replacement, sound frets at top of hood replaced with an incised carved board, repairs/replacements on side sound frets, lacking finials and caddy top, age consistent losses and damage.
Movement: time train third wheel broken pivot; strike gathering pallet wheel square broken off and gathering pallet missing; movement needs overhaul.
