Wide mouth on tapering form, inner rim in green glaze outer rim and shoulder in black on olive green body, artist's initials on base, GRS for Gertrude Roberts Smith, JM for Joseph Meyer Potter, NC cipher for Newcomb College and Q for buff clay, ht. 6 3/4 in.
Provenance: From the family of William E. Roberts. Mr. Roberts's sister was Gertrude Roberts Smith, an early member of the Newcomb College faculty.
