18kt Gold Gem-set "Shawu" Elephant Brooch, depicting the South African bull elephant Shawu, with diamond melee tusks, and ruby melee eyes, 17.9 dwt, lg. 2 1/8 in.

Note: Shawu (c. 1926-1986) is one of "The Magnificent Seven" bull elephants whose tusks and skull is on display at Elephant Hall in Kruger National Park. He can be easily identified by his pincer-like tusks, which are the longest on record in Southern Africa.
