Needlework Sampler, "Wrought by Eliza Porter AEt 12 years," probably New England, early 19th century, wrought with silk threads on a linen gauze ground, with floral border surrounding rows of alphabets over panels of fruit, a verse "The youth with gratest talents born/Is rough while unrefin'd/Learning will every soul adorn/And polish every mind.," above a floral panel, unfinished, (toning, fading),18 x 15 in., in a later giltwood frame.
