Needlework Sampler, "MAry DObSON DId ThIS WOrK IN The TWeLfth Year OF Her Age 1733," probably Boston, wrought in primarily in silk threads, with a small area done with wool yarns on a linen ground, with formal bands of floral, acorn, and geometric patterns interspersed with pious verses with tight lettering, (light toning, fading, minor thread losses), 16 3/4 x 12 1/2 in, housed in a later molded wood frame.
Estimate $4,000-6,000

It appears the red yarns used in this sampler are wool as well as a short geometric border of red white and green at u.r., some of these areas have yarn losses.
