Description:

Needlework Adam and Eve Sampler, "Sarah Buck March 31 1817," England, the sampler worked in polychrome silk and wool threads on a woven wool ground with a pious verse flanked by cornucopia issuing flowers, over a depiction of Adam and Eve and the Tree of the Knowledge of Good and Evil with encircling serpant, flanked by potted flowers, the lower register with a brick house flanked by potted flowers and birds and trees, all enclosed in a floral border, (scattered small background losses, one small repaired area), sight size 13 x 12 1/2 in., in a contemporary molded gilt gesso frame.
Estimate $800-1,200
