Description:

Pair of Chippendale Mahogany Carved Side Chairs, probably New York, c. 1760-80, with shell and leaf-carved crestings, above pierced diamon scrolled splats, on cabriole legs with shell-carved knees ending in claw-and-ball feet, refinished, (imperfections, minor restoration), ht. 38 3/4, seat ht. 18 1/2 in.

Provenance: one chair with Ginsburg & Levy label, mid-20th century.
Estimate $8,000-12,000

small patch to a seat frame, and a triangular patch at one pin where seat frame joins leg; glue blocks supporting the seats replaced.
