Incised Jumeau Bisque Bebe, marked Depose Jumeau 7 and red painter's mark A7, with open/closed mouth showing white line between lips, fixed honey-brown paperweight eyes, light brown brows, pierced ears, original curly blonde mohair wig (reworked onto modern cotton cap),jointed straight-wrist papier-mache body with "Mamma / Pappa" pull-string voice box, original finish and blue ink-stamp Jumeau Medaille d'Or, Paris on the back, in peach taffeta dress, white lawn undergarments, straw hat, white lace socks, kid shoes and white rabbit fur muff, ht. 16 1/2 in., (tiny piercing chip on left ear, some paint wear on legs, voicebox partially functioning, with both beads and one string detached).
Provenance: From the family of her original owner, Esther Smith. Esther was born in Northern Ireland, but spent much of her life on Elm St., in Brookline, Massachusetts.
