Bennington Stoneware Crock with Cobalt Blue Stag, J. Norton & Co., Bennington, Vermont, 1859-1861, four-gallon straight-sided crock, decorated with a freehand stag in a landscape with a pine tree and incised lines about the shoulder, Albany slip-glazed interior, lug handles, impressed maker's mark "J. NORTON & CO. BENNINGTON VT.," ht. 11 1/2 in.
Estimate $10,000-15,000

Very good condition, just a very small unobtrusive 1/4 in. shallow interior rim edge chip, no cracks, black light shows no repairs, faint light streaks of whitish mineral residue on the exterior and more prominent mineral residue remains to the interior, (it scrapes right off).
