Portrait of the Linnell Children. Unsigned. Oil on canvas, c. 1840, depicting three children a boy, a girl and a baby and a parrot in cage, 38 x 32 in. in a gilt gesso frame. Condition: Relined, scattered retouch.

Note: According to family tradition, the painting is of three children from the New Jersey area. A genealogical search indicates these children are likely the children of Haskell Linnell and Melissa Morehouse Linnell b. 1812. The children are identified as Spencer Linnell born in 1830, Catherine Linnell born in 1836 and William Henry Linnell born in 1837. Another child Delia was born in 1848.
