Mahogany Patent Alarm Timepiece or "Lighthouse" Clock, Simon Willard & Sons, Boston, c. 1825, with glass dome over the enameled dial and movement, mahogany veneered waist section on an eight-sided base, the back section flattened and open for access to pendulum and weight, brass ball feet, 4 in. dia. enameled dial marked "Simon Willard & Son's, Patent," enameled alarm disc, eight-day brass, weight powered movement with side mounted, pull-wind, alarm mechanism sounding on a brass plate mounted to the iron movement support, dead beat escapement, decorative bell mounted above, 16 1/2 in. "T-bridge" pendulum suspension, tin-cased time and lead alarm weight, ht. 29 1/2 in.
Glass dome is a replacement, mid section needs re-gluing to base, imperfection in enameling on dial at 10:15 position, lacking rear door, unexplained threaded hole on underside as though ball foot was positioned in error, hands, weights, pendulum, key appear to be the original.
