Aaron Willard, Jr. Patent Timepiece or "Bride's" Clock, Boston, Massachusetts, circa 1805, the mahogany case with gilded carved Doggett eagle, zinc dial with Roman numerals, brass bezel, brass side ornaments flanking the waist section, reeded frames enclosing reverse paintings on glass in white and gold, lower carved and gilded pediment and eight-day "T-bridge" step-train movement with pendulum and lead weight, (alterations and restoration),ht. 44 in.

This clock is accompanied by the original printed maker's label and a later bill of sale from the maker's brother, Simon Willard, Jr., who re-sold the clock in 1830 to Col. Lucas Pond. According to a family letter and bill of sale, this clock hung in the Massachusetts State House for many years until refurbished and acquired by Col. Lucas Pond.

glasses are repainted, side ornaments and zinc dial with paint loss are replacements (slightly convex iron dial and carved "floral" side ornaments no doubt were used originally),case probably once painted white, and original brass bezel now gold painted, original salmon color paint on interior surfaces, original barbed steel hands, all gilded surfaces on case except pedestal have later coating of gilding/bronzing paints, filister head screws for movement attachment now gone.
