Unsigned, the subjects and their ages identified in ornamental calligraphy below. Watercolor, graphite, and ink on paper, 10 1/4 x 14 in., in a period grain-painted gesso and wood frame. Condition: Laid down, toning, stains, edges trimmed.
Note: Joseph H. Davis was an itinerant portrait artist who worked primarily in Dover, New Hampshire, and nearby Maine towns. His works there span between the years 1832 to 1837.
