Artist-Designed 18kt Gold and Enamel Stallion Brooch, Oskar J.W.F. Hansen, designed as a stallion's head, 2 3/4 x 3 in., signed Oskar J.W. Hansen, sculptor.

Note: The Scandinavian-born Hansen (1892-1971) emigrated to the United States in 1910. With interests in theology, astronomy, and the arts, he is mostly known for his sculpture. His works range from the monumental "Wings" and "Winged Figures of the Republic" at Hoover Dam, to the carved turquoise "Stallion's Head" in the Smithsonian Gem Collection, and carved Morganite "Brooding Image of God" .
