N.B. Boston artist Marie Danforth Page is best known for her affectionate portraits of children. She first studied with Helen Knowlton and later at the Boston Museum School with Frank Benson and Edmund Tarbell (whose work had a profound influence on her). She was an Associate at the National Academy, member of the Guild of Boston Artists, and exhibited at a number of local and national institutions, including the Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts, the Corcoran Gallery, the Art Institute of Chicago, and the Pan-Pacific Exposition in San Francisco.
