N.B. Dwight Blaney painted and hunted with fellow artist Frank Benson. In 1891 Benson purchased a small farmhouse at Nauset Marsh in North Eastham, Massachusetts, to use as a hunting cabin. It is possible that this work was painted during one of the visits Blaney made to the cabin.
