Needlework Sampler, "Wrought by Eliza J Sewall AE 11 YE", "July 12 1827", Chesterville, Franklin County, Maine, silk threads on a linen ground, with rows of alphabets and lettering above a house flanked by trees and a fence, (toning, fading), 16 x 12 in., in a later molded wood frame.

Note: A note inscribed on the reverse reads: Eliza J. Sewall born April 24, 1816. Daughter of Oliver Sewall, oldest son Jotham Sewall born 1760 who was the son of Henry Sewall born March 26, 1727..." A genealogical search record states Eliza Jane Sewell was born on April 24, 1816 in Chesterville, Franklin County, Maine, to Oliver and Betsy Sewall.
