Description:

*Domaine Du Caillou Reserve le Clos du Caillou 1998
Chateauneuf-du-Pape
"A phenomenal, still youthful and backward Chateauneuf du Pape, this opaque purple-colored effort offers scents of violets, creme de cassis, minerals, and spice. Aromatically, it is reminiscent of a great Musigny from Comte de Vogue. However, no Burgundy would have such concentration, power, richness, and seamlessness at such a young age. There is plenty of tannin, but it is sweet and melted. Enormously-endowed, with a multilayered, prodigious mid-section, and blockbuster finish, it has put on weight and added additional nuances to its multidimensional personality. A magnificent achievement, it is unquestionably the finest wine I have ever tasted from this estate. Anticipated maturity: 2004-2026." R. Parker, 99 pts. 12/01 2 bottles
