Needlework Adam & Eve Sampler, "Mary Sharples, 1835," worked in silk threads on a linen ground, the lower panel depicting Adam and Eve with the serpent encircling the Tree of the Knowledge of Good and Evil on a mound with several animals and trees and two large birds flying above, the upper panels with urns of flowers and birds over a verse from Genesis, all enclosed in a geometric flowering vine, (toning, fading, losses, stains),20 3/4 x 18 1/4 in. , in a later molded wood frame.
