A. D. Crane's Patent Twelve Month Clock, J. R. Mills & Co., Belleville, New Jersey, c. 1842-1844, the four free-standing column, French style ebonized case with gilded capitals, full length door with etched lyre pattern tablet and unique door latch, applied pressed brass decoration, green paper lining case interior and printed maker's label, paper dial under glass marked J.R. Mills & Co., Belleville, N.J., A.D. Crane's Patent and gilt, pressed brass surround, all housing a year duration brass, spring powered fusee movement with Crane's "walking escapement", "daisy-cam" motion work, horizontal rotary strike hammer and single ball pendulum, (crack on lower corner of tablet), ht. 22 1/2 in.
