Federal Mahogany Carved and Inlaid Settee, signed "J Short," Newburyport, Massachusetts, c. 1810-15, the arched back continuing to downward-sloping sides and scrolled handholds inlaid with interrupted-line stringing on vase and ring-turned reeded supports, above satinwood panels bordered by checkered banding, all resting on frontal vase and ring-turned reeded legs, and flaring, raking rear legs, refinished, (minor restoration) ht. 37 1/4, lg. 71, dp. 28 1/2 in.
