Antoine-Louis Barye (French, 1796-1875), Bronze Figure of a Lion Crushing a Serpent with its Hindpaw, Lion la patte Levee sur un Serpent, the cat crouching over the snake with one paw raised, mold incised signature, on rouge marble rectangular base, bronze ht. 5 3/8, bronze wd. 6 1/2 , ht. with base 7 3/4 in. Property of the New Hampshire Historical Society, sold by order of the Trustees to benefit the Acquisitions & Conservation Fund.
