Diminutive Brass Plain Surveyor's Compass by Young & Sons, Philadelphia, No. 5675, with 3 3/4-inch silvered dial engraved Patented Aug. 17. 1875, fleur-de-lis and star at North, needle ring divided 0-90 in four quadrants, blued-steel needle on lifting arm with screw-thread clamp, cap, tapering limb with socket, staff-adaptor, two vials and two screw-on sights scaled for incline 1-18 and 1-20 degrees, ht. 6 in., lg. 10 in., in maker's fitted mahogany case, No. 5675, with leather strap and maker's label Young & Sons, Engineering & Surveying Instruments, 43 North Seventh St. Philadelphia.
