Early Bru French Fashion Doll with Costume History, Paris, c. 1870s, cobalt blue stationary glass eyes, light brown finely lined eyebrows, closed mouth, delicate pink tinting and shapely outlining, pierced-in ears, pale bisque with pink cheek coloring, swivel neck on shoulderplate, unmarked, face attributed to Bru, original pale blonde mohair wig with braid around head, light fringe of bangs, gusseted kid body (some breaking at seams, light sawdust leakage) with separately wired fingers, elegantly costumed by Helen Barglebaugh in white cotton undergarments, three-piece pink silk outfit with lace trim, covered buttons, piped shoulder seams, ruched self-fabric decorative trim, white leather heeled kid slippers, ht. 15 in.
