Storefront Nodding Cobbler Automaton, 1930s, with papier-mâché head, fixed blue eyes, mohair wig and beard, pipe in mouth and hammer in hand, the clockwork mechanism in his torso causing the figure to nod and beat rhythmically on a captive shoe with his hammer, in the original cap and apron, ht. 21 in., (canvas perishing on sleeves).
