Description:

Pike 4 1/2-inch Astronomical Telescope on Pier, with 58-inch lacquered-brass tube engraved Benj. Pike's Son, New York, radial rackwork focusing, screw-rod direction controls, equatorial mount with counterweight, geared spoked brass wheel calibrated in two-minute divisions I - XXIV, and inverted degree circle divided 0-90° in four quadrants, read by opposite verniers, on cast-iron pier with plaque engraved C.E. Grunow, Utica, N.Y., ht. elevated 7 ft., (replacement mounts for absent starfinder, two screws replaced on telescope ring-mounts), with brass right-angle finder and ten eyepieces in later fitted case.
